Limosa limosa
These godwits are large wader, some 35 to 40 cm in length, and, in summer, predominantly rufous or cinnamon in colour. They sport whitish belly and black tail ring, and are easily recognized by a two-coloured long and straight (or very slightly upcurved) bill.
Seen on mudflats and pools in saline marshes of Sené, a highly protected ornithological reserve in Morbihan bay of Brittany, France; really a waders' paradise - little bit of this environment can be seen in pics N° 4 to 6.
The marshes of Sené are waders' paradise, and I wish we had some more time to explore them more. In one afternoon we observed plenty of avocets, stilts, dunlins, shelducks, egrets, lapwings, terns and gulls; unfortunately, we missed spoonbills, but gt to see beside this beautiful kingfisher, some swallows, wrens, robins and linnets in exchange... Great place, great volunteers ready to explain and answer your questions; and I sincerely recommend it if you are around.
