Description:

Tirumala formosa, common name Forest Monarch or Beautiful Tiger, is a butterfly of the Nymphalidae family. Tirumala formosa has a wingspan reaching about 75–85 millimetres (3.0–3.3 in). Tirumala formosa can be found in tropical Africa.

Habitat:

Seen during a walk into Kibale national Park. Tropical rain forest. This species lives in semi-montane forests, at an elevation of about 1,500–2,300 metres (4,900–7,500 ft) above sea level.

Notes:

Kibale National Park is a national park in South Uganda protecting moist evergreen rain forest. It is 766 km2 (296 sq mi) in size and is located between 1,100–1,600 meters (3,600–5,200 ft) in elevation.
