Swallowtail butterfly

Description:

Swallowtail butterfly, appeared mostly black with some blue spots on lower wings edges, and white spots on upper wing edges

Habitat:

Seen on mud patches at edge of Green River in Mammoth Cave National Park at site of Houchins Ferry crossing.

Notes:

Appeared to be drinking moisture or taking up minerals from the mud. There were numerous butterflies of many species doing the same thing.
