White Tailed Deer

Odocoileus virginianus

Habitat:

Broadleaf and mixed woods and edges, fields, watersides (even yards in suburbs). Active day and night year-around

Notes:

Throughout the winter of 2009 a group of 4 deer would cautiously come to our driveway to eat wildlife grains I had put out for them. Like with the fox, bear, raccoon and turkeys, I do this with caution because I do not want them to get to comfortable with humans. Totally stop feeding once the hard winter is over.

I like the picture and the story. It should give good opportunity for taking pictures also. That is the only time I can catch my Cat bird (the middle of winter at the feeder)
