Small snake (about 8 in) found under a pile of leaves and grass. It was a light yellowish/beige color with a thin black line running the length of each side of its body.

What a wonderful find, Amanda! This is a species of legless lizard. :-) A couple of easy to spot differences is that these guys have ear holes and eyelids (unlike snakes).
