Description:

"Females are black with yellow-orange stripes in the tail and chest, and yellow grading to red spots on the cheeks and wings. The bill is pale and horn-coloured. Habitat:

This magnificent bird was calling to the male and juvenile while she was here for a drink from the long trough near the Prison Boab Tree.

While others of this subspecies are listed as Vulnerable, Endangered or otherwise, this particular subspecies appears to be abundant but little studied...
