Banded tussock moth

Halysidota tessellaris

Description:

The moth was dangling down from a tree branch overhead right in the middle of a path used by walkers and bikers. So I moved it over to a tree trunk to get a photo of its spiky hairs.

Habitat:

A wooded area next to a creek

Notes:

I hoped to see at least one moth species during 2022 Moth Week and was glad to see this caterpillar! Submitting a bit late, however.
