Red eyed vireo nest

Vireo olivaceus

Description:

Small cup nest in the forks of a sugar maple sapling. It looks like there are some shreds of white birch bark woven into the nest. I know that it's a red eyed vireo nest because we watched the parents raise a couple of broods last year.

Habitat:

edge of our house's clearing in hardwood forest
