Olea paniculata
Native Olive, aka Australian Olive, is an indigenous plant of the genus Olea and a relative of the olive. Bird-attracting black fruit consumed by a wide variety of bird species, and also traditionally eaten by Aboriginal Australians. Host plant to a number of butterfly species.
Subtropical rainforest in Bunya Mountains National Park, southeast Queensland. Here's some info on the park - http://www.nprsr.qld.gov.au/parks/bunya-... In Australia it is found near watercourses in dry rainforests, although water wasn't a problem here as the rainforest is very lush.

They're related to olives, and the fruit look like olives too. I don't know what they taste like, but they're edible. If I see any I'll give 'em a try.
