Witch’s Butter

Tremella mesenterica

Description:

irregular, lobed, gelatinous, yellow, fading to pale yellow or whitish, drying to a horny mass, and reviving when wetted.

Habitat:

Wide spread, not as common in the East, as usually indicated. Located on hardwoods, during prolonged wet periods. This one I found on an acer for sure!

Notes:

Slimy cap, near other fungi, moss,etc. In hardwood forest. Amazing colors!
