Urocerus californicus
This is a large wood-boring wasp that has a large rounded body. Wood wasps that are part of the family Siricidae and are large non-stinging wasps that are attracted to dead or dying conifer trees.
Spotted on the edge of a road in a conifer dominate forest. Cascade foothills in eastern Washington.

Thanks, Leuba. I was lucky to find her while I was working along a road. She was a bit hobbled but was still alive. Probably hit by a passing car. Its the first time if found this species. I couldn't find good detailed information on them yet other than my reference.
