Chamaepetes unicolor

Description:

These were about the size of small turkeys. Their legs were red also.

Habitat:

I saw them in the St Elena Cloud Forest. They were eating the the unfurling fronds of a tree fern.

Thanks, Luis. These birds were actully a fair distance below us on a slope beside the trail.
