Pantherophis allegheniensis
This is the Eastern Ratsnake (Pantherophis allegheniensis). Under the old taxonomy we would call this a Yellow Ratsnake. Some of us still do and I would call this a Yellow Rat if I was in the field.
Thank you Gordon, and I appreciate the link. Boy, that's the easiest key I have ever used! I think it would be good to use with my students (elementary) in learning about classification. Thanks again.

I'm not a herptologist, but I think you are right that this is a rat snake.
