Phrictus quinquepartitus
Saw this on a guided tour around the La Selva Biological Research Center, Costa Rica. It was hiding in a crevice in a tree. Fulgorid Planthopper, commonly called a Lanternfly
Outstanding spotting! Great work, pamsai!! Here is my another "version" of it: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/381...
Thanks for sharing, friend!
Yes Rieko it is a hopper. Seems like I forgot to add it to the hopper mission. Added it!
Found one on La Selva too... Love this things, they're amazing!!! Great shots, it looks pretty big, i think its a female (females are bigger than males).
Thanks Cindy. I can't take the credit at all. It was the guide at La Selva who spotted it! But I feel lucky to have seen it. It was such a strange looking creature, and so colourful with it's wings open...
Fantastic spotting, Pam, it is lovely. Congratulations hope you get an ID.
Wonderful! Lucky lady to have spotted and held one! This one is fantastic.
