This crocodile, and others we saw on the cruise, jumped out of the water to obtain a piece of meat being held from a rod by a crew member of the boat. So this behavior was provoked. But it is a natural behavior; crocodiles use this jumping method (by synchronizing their tail and limb movements in a wriggling motion) to grab at birds and bats and any other potential prey in low hanging tree branches.
crocs I feels look like flattened hippos.
So the crocodile is lurching out of the water in order to grab a piece of meat from a crew member of the boat? I'm asking because other users may wonder if this is typical wild crocodile behavior. :-)
These croc pics I got on a boat cruise on the Adelaide River, an hour outside Darwin, in the Northern Territory.
Where do you get all those pics
