Flame Tree / Royal Poinciana / Flamboyant Tree

Delonix regia

Description:

Sturdy and wide growing tree, with fine lightgreen leaves in a cluster, like feathers. Bright Orange red flowers with four "outer" petal and one bigger petal in the middle. Large seedpods with small seeds.

Habitat:

On the road to Fort Bay, dry, hot area of Saba, Dutch Antilles, Caribbean.

Notes:

These trees are just so gorgeous, like (as the name already suggests ) it is growing flames at the top of its canopy. I passed it every time when we went diving and finally got the dive truck to stop for some pictures.
