Columbian Black-tailed Deer

Odocoileus hemionus columbianus

Description:

Small deer found on the south coast, Vancouver Island and Gulf islands of British Columbia. This doe and her fawn were busy eating the plants in a front garden in a residential neighbourhood on Vancouver Island.

Habitat:

Residential neighbourhood on Vancouver Island, in Ucluelet which is on a narrow part of land with the Pacific Ocean on either side. Mild climate, plenty of rain and sunshine, lush flora including wild berries.

Notes:

Showed absolutely no concern over our car parked right beside the front lawn they were munching on, even with the car engine on and our camera clicking away!
