Yes it very much is a barred owl unlike the great gray owl in my profile pic. The great gray has yellow eyes.

That is super cute!! What a face, and those enormous eyes! Owl chicks are so adorable, I volunteered at a local owl sanctuary and got to babysit a baby tawny owl someone had found. They're like big balls of fluffy feathers!
