Western Side-blotched Lizard

Uta stansburiana elegans

Description:

Lizard almost resembles a species of fence lizard. Colors and patterns vary. Colors are brown, blue gray, yellowish, or black, with dark blotches, spots, and sometimes stripes. Besides the dark spot that is sometimes visible on the side behind the front leg, it has a longer tail than the Fence lizards.

Habitat:

Found in a dry flat desert area of sagebrush, scrub and chaparral.

Notes:

Incredible is that I learn these lizards have a short life span that is about a year.
