Gopher snake

Pituophis catenifer

Description:

Young gopher snake on private road near meadow. Looks very much like a rattle snake and even vibrates it's tail to scare predators away but dont let this fool you, you can tell by the head. A slender head like this is gopher snake while a rattler looks triangular like this: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/488...

Habitat:

Southwest

I can tell by the head shape that your spotting is a gopher snake, not a rattlesnake.

That really doesn't look like a rattlesnake. What species of rattlesnake were you thinking it is?
