Asclepias lanceolata

Description:

This specimen was a volunteer in my mother's garden. Monarch caterpillars were attracted to the leaves and pods, while the fluffy seeds of this milkweed provided hiding places as well as nutrients for the nymphs of Large Milkweed Bugs.

Habitat:

Found on the costal plains of Eastern and Southeastern United States. Populations of this milkweed are found in the following states: Alabama, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, New Jersey, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia

Notes:

Spotted growing in a backyard flower garden in Kennesaw, GA
