Common Blackbird

Description:

Member of the true thrushes the Common Blackbird, or Eurasian Blackbird is one of the most instantly recognisable of the songbirds. the Male is all black with an orange/yellow bill. The female is light brown (darkening in winter) with a mottled chest. The juveniles, in the first year are an indistinct mix of both male & female markings.

Woodlands and gardens

Notes:

The photos in this spotting are of one single family over one summer period, The mother is distinguished by her broken left wing (Beatle fans take note). She has raised 3 chicks per year for each of the last 3 years.
