Todiramphus chloris collaris (Scopoli, 1786)
Medium-sized kingfisher belonging to the subfamily Halcyoninae, the tree kingfishers. It is also known as the white-collared kingfisher or mangrove kingfisher. It has a wide range extending from the Red Sea across southern Asia to Polynesia.
Rural garden.
It perches conspicuously on the same spot every morning. Typical call is loud, harsh and metallic and is repeated several times. It probably feeds on insects as there are no ponds nearby.
