Monarch Butterfly (Chrysalis)

Danaus plexippus

Attached to a wooden post, a few inches off the ground. Pale green, smooth, and translucent. The shortened body and newly forming wings were partially visible inside.

Seen on a wooden post at the entrance to the native garden at Sycamore Grove Park. The Monarch had only traveled a few feet from its host milkweed in the garden.
