Misumena vatia
This gorgeous crab spider was feasting on a bee. It was about 9 mm long, and was all white, except for 2 red stripes on the sides of the abdomen and red/orange in the eye area.
Spotted on milkweed in a rural herb garden.

Amazing spotting and images, Christine. Congrats on your SOTW.
Congrats. Well deserved.
Congratulations Christine!
Moth Week came in the way of announcing your win in this previous round of Spotting of the Week Christine! Congratulations!
"There's plenty of great detail and drama in this spotting of a Goldenrod Crab Spider (Misumena vatia) feasting on a bee! Misumena vatia belongs to the family Thomisidae, and is an ambush predator: waiting on or near flowers or fruit, it will grab visiting insects. Misumena vatia is able to change its color over a few days to match that of the flower it's sitting on".

Thanks @Mark for your comment, and thank you @Ashley for the nomination!
Your spotting has been nominated for the Spotting of the Week. The winner will be chosen by the Project Noah Rangers based on a combination of factors including: uniqueness of the shot, status of the organism (for example, rare or endangered), quality of the information provided in the habitat and description sections. There is a subjective element, of course; the spotting with the highest number of Ranger votes is chosen. Congratulations on being nominated!
