Downy Serviceberry

Amelanchier arborea

Description:

Simple rounded slightly serrated 4-6 inch leaves, alternating on narrow branches. Very small tree at only about 14 feet tall.

Habitat:

Moist wooded north facing hill, growing under a yellow poplar and American holly tree.

Notes:

Took a photo of the only bright red leaf, among green leaves on a newly leafed out tree. Photo taken in April. Not sure why the one red leaf, but it's lovely.
