Geum

Description:

red ruffled-petal flower on a long stem coming direct from the ground in the center of the plant. A cultivar.

Habitat:

garden, Pacific temperate rain forest, rich soil, well-drained but a lot of rainfall, neither sunny nor hot but for a few days a year, often shaded by big trees.

Notes:

Long-lived perennial, I love the color this plant gives, but it has to be grouped to get much of a show since the flowers are relatively small and are high on a stem a few at a time. It's reliable and takes little care. Best of all, the deer and slugs don't like to eat it.
