Description:

A large and vicious looking Ground Beetle about 2 cm long, with a bright magenta band along the outer edges of the thorax and elytra. The elytra are also distinctly striated. Huge toothed mandibles. Family Carabidae.

Habitat:

Hunting around the garden lights, semi-rural residential area, San Cristobal de Las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico, 2,200 meters.
