Giant Water Bug

Lethocerus indicus

Description:

A large brown insect, approximately 3.5" to 4.0" long. Moved using four long legs; the two appendages in the front just seemed to drag along the ground. It looks like it might also have wings on its back.

Habitat:

Found on a sidewalk in an industrial park. The area is pretty swampy overall.

Notes:

Was sluggish in movement. The weather was about 40 degrees Fahrenheit...perhaps too cold for its taste?
