Feather Starfish stranded on the beach
I actually picked it up.. AFTER the photo and put it back in the water.. It was very weird and I hope it survived..:)
Just saw the last comment. It was walking. Freaky!!!
I'm still trying to get my head around what it is exactly I'm looking at. It looks like tangled gear. How weird. Is it dead, or is it trying to walk? It's not often I'm baffled, but wow. I would have screamed with delight spotting this, and people all over the beach would have been looking at me. Nice one, Christiane :-)
It was washed up and was 'WALKING' back into the water. :)
It is so strange looking!
ONE YEAR AGO..
@Darwin26 ... It does look like a knot of steel cables..
Aonach_Eagach.. Thanks ..
great spotting, well done
Well .. I don't think you will find them on land to often.
WOW.. I have seen them while diving in this area. Never on land!
Just found out the name of the little animal that lived on the starfish! Last Photo...Allogalathea elegans (known as the feather star squat lobster)
Incredible and out of this world !
Are there any marine biologist here?
Here are some more photos of the strange animal..
I did.. I could not let such an amazing animal leave to die!
Amazing! I bet it's gorgeous in the water. I hope you put it back in.
Wow, their anus is located next to their mouth..
