Grey Mouse Lemur

Microcebus murinus

Description:

Weighing 58 to 67 grams (2.0 to 2.4 oz), it is the largest of the mouse lemurs (genus Microcebus), a group which include the smallest primates in the world. The species is named for its mouse-like size and coloration and is known locally (in Malagasy) as tsidy, koitsiky, titilivaha, pondiky, and vakiandry.

Habitat:

spiny desert

Notes:

spotted this while walking around the ground of La Mangrove hotel, south of Toliara. it was the wet season in Madagascar and the owner of the hotel told me this is the time when all the animals come around. A walk around the hotel grounds at night by headlamp revealed a few lemurs, chameleons and geckos.
