Falco sparverius
Small size; female with rufous wings and blackish bars on rufous back and tail. tail. This adaptable little falcon is regularly seen hunting along parkways and in suburban fields. The American Kestral used to be called the Sparrow Hawk. It does eat birds, but takes many mnore insects and small mammals.
Open wooded area, prairies, deserts, farmlands, suburbs and cities.
