Ardea herodias
This is a magnificent bird with a wingspan up to more than six feet and, when standing, as an adult, may be up to four and a half feet.
This large wading bird is seen through much of North and Central America and through parts of the Caribbean.
This beautiful specimen was seen when boating and birding in a channel just south of the Chesapeake Bay on a bright, clear autumn day.
