Lamprachaenium microcephalum

Description:

small purple perrenial, thick, fuzzy leaves

Habitat:

high altitude grasslands, 3700m, near the summit of mount cameroon

Notes:

spotted this growing beside Hut #3 at 3742m (12,300') on the trail to the summit of Mount Cameroon, the highest peak in west Africa. it is an active volcano that had erupted a few years before I was there. there was't much else growing besides grass

In India its famous as Ayurvedic medical plant. We call it in Marathi- Brahmadandi. (Amazing stick)
