desert locust

Schistocerca gregaria

Description:

It was cream colored and very big in size(about 10 cm long if not more). The island was full of them and the locals told me they were a pest which had recently arrived from Senegal. It flies really well and does so when approached.

Habitat:

This specimen was in the garden of the hotel, but I found lots of them hidden in the bushes
