Rice Bug

Leptocorisa oratorius

Description:

Young nymphs are green while adults are greenish‐brown. It is called Atangya (Tagalog) or dangaw (Ilocano) in the Philippines. Other common names are Paddy bug, Gundhi bug and Rice Ear bug.

Habitat:

Common on grass. They feed on grass seeds, are the known pest of rice.

Notes:

Once in a while, I'd see an insect on my bedroom window. This is one of them. They probably come from the vacant lot with overgrown grasses just outside our walls.
