Description:

Large, long-living polypore with a cheesy pore surface that does not bruise.

Habitat:

100 year old conifers

Notes:

This is an exceedingly rare and important fungus, as its habitat is in decline. It is also studied for its ability to fight of Tuberculosis and Smallpox, among other things.

This conk will be cloned by Paul Stamets and added to his genomic library for research into Smallpox and Tuberculosis cures/vaccines.
