Cone Nose Katydid

Description:

I found this female Cone Nose Katydid on a vertical wall in this weird pose. I thought she was stuck in a twisted position, but when I touched her, she slipped easily back to a normal stance. Must be some kind of Grasshopper yoga. She is pale brown with very short wings and a long sword-like ovipositor. She was not laying eggs on the wall.

Habitat:

Garden lights at night, semi-rural residential area, San Cristobal de Las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico 2,200 meters.
