Common African Ringlet

Ypthima doleta

Description:

Ypthima doleta, the Common Ringlet, is a butterfly in the Nymphalidae family. Both sexes can commonly be seen flying among grasses or nectaring at marigolds and other wild flowers. They usually keep their wings erect for a few moments after settling but if undisturbed will gradually open them, and in warm overcast conditions it is not uncommon to find them with wings fully outspread.

Habitat:

Seen in wetlands on some bushes at the edge of Magombe Swamp. Its habitat consists of humid areas, including farmland, forest margins and glades.

Notes:

Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. Located outside Kibale Forest park in Magombe Swamp. The sanctuary was set up to preserve the exclusive environmental features along with the wetland.
