A large bull elk. He had a harem of at least 6 cows.
Spotted in a conifer forest with open meadows near the Cle Elum River. Cascade mountain foothills.

Thank you very much Tukup and Zlatan.
Great series, really! Congrats
Beautiful shot Brian. We were disappointed to not see any elk during our week in the Colorado Rockies. There have always been before, but a lot of dogs up around the high cabins now chase them away, I believe. I did post the Bighorn sheep we saw, but no elk. Thanks for sharing a shot of this magnificent animal.
Thank you Neil and Greg for your kind words. He certainly wasn't afraid of me - though I was keeping a good distance. It was really interesting watching him interact with his harem.
Great series of captures Brian...wonderful spotting.
Such a cool spotting, Brian. Now that is industrial strength, and I think I would be more frightened of him than I would a big rowdy roo with a bad attitude. I was chased by one years ago, and fear lifted me to the treetops. Awesome photos :)
