Madagascar Pitcher Plant

Nepenthes madagascariensis

Description:

large carnivorous plant, one of only 2 species in Madgascar. the other being Nepenthes masoalensis. their closest relatives are thousands of miles away in Southeast Asia.

Habitat:

coastal, rocky

Notes:

spotted these pitcher plants near Evatraha, a couple of hours from Fort Dauphin. pitcher plants are extremely rare in Madgascar.
