Yes, I think they are! I have spotted the whole picture, not only the ones from the nice blue feathers...

Mallards, along with many other birds, mostly from UK, and rats, cats, stoats etc, were all introduced to New Zealand over 100 years ago, and have been responsible for the demise of much of the local bird population, including the extinction of several species, the animals by killing and the birds by competitive eating!

Do you have Mallards over there? That's what the speculum looks like to me.
