Fringed Pitcher Plant

Nepenthes tentaculata

Description:

Seriously tiny plant, pitchers only about 20mm high and 5mm wide. Photo #4 shows a collection of pitchers found in the same area beside N. tentacular for comparison. See the last 2 photos for scale in comparison with my finger.

Habitat:

tropical heath forest, 1000m

Notes:

One of the smallest pitchers of any Nepenthes species. I had heard about this species before going to Maliau basin and really wanted to spot it. Thankfully my guide was fairly decent and he was able to spot all 7 species and a natural hybrid of Nepenthes in Maliau.
