Tillandsia fasciculata

Description:

Tillandsia species are epiphytes (also called aerophytes or air plants) – ie they normally grow without soil while attached to other plants). Epiphytes are not parasitic, depending on the host only for support.

Habitat:

rainforest

Notes:

These Tillandsias are blooming on the trunk of a huge tree at the Mayan ruins of Copan. The second photo is the inside of the tree they were growing on, it's completely hollow.
