Leptodactylus pentadactylus
It is the largest amphibian in Costa Rica after the big toad (Bufo marinus). Its back is brown or bronze, sometimes with reddish brown spots. Have black spots on the lips and often a black stripe above the tympanum. Colors are red can on the backs of the thighs and flanks. Posterior thigh surface is marble, without a clearly defined longitudinal line. The males have internal vocal sacs. They also have one or more thumbs horny spines. The toes lack of prominent ridges, but sometimes have a slight edge. Vomerine teeth are arranged in series between the choanae located arched, but extend in the form later. Horny males have spines on the chest, or may lack them. The maximum standard length of adult males is 142 mm., females measure 146 mm. (inbio)
