Description:

The male has red brown head and neck and red eyes. Black breast and tail and the rest of the body greyish.

Habitat:

Lakes area of Huldenberg. Relatively common in the spring in our area.

Thanks James. I also like these red eyes. These ducks are quite pretty. It is a shame for me that they are always a bit far in the lake and with my regular camera I cannot make a better close-up (some day I should join the world of professional camera users haha :-)

Hi Ernst, thanks, yes, at that time in May they were in breeding season. I have some pics of a female with babies from a separate day. I have to verify it was the same species but I think it was. In any case, because of the humid temperate weather in Belgium, it makes it an ideal place for waterfowl breeding :-)
