I've always had a difficult time telling these two common birds apart. The males are always pretty easy to tell apart. But the females resemble each other. Best way to tell them apart is that the female house sparrows don't have a streaked breast whereas the female house finch do.

Thanks for the suggestions :-) I think it's a house sparrow. House finches in most cases have red on their bodies such as their head neck or shoulders. After googling images of both, I think he looks more like a house sparrow.
