Eurasian Sparrowhawk

Accipiter nisus

Description:

This is a medium sized hunter bird, having the call like a short whistle. This bird was spotted hunting the new born baby of a pigeon, which had its nest on my kitchen's ventilator. My family members saw the hunt and tried to rescue the baby. So these pics show the bird searching the wounder baby.

Notes:

There is a myth related to this bird and some poets have used the myth in their poems beautifully. The myth depicts the "loved one" as the bird who only eats the flesh of the heart, leaving the rest of the body as it is. The lover says that, despite I fed you with the flesh of my heart still you are not interested in the relationship. So certainly, this goes towards the sad part of the relation.
