A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Arum maculatum
Perennial, herbaceous plant growing from a tuber underground. In autumn, it produces a cluster of dark orange berries grouped together at the top of a stem. Leaves have the shape of an arrowhead, a lush-green color and sometimes the characteristic dark spots. Flowering from April to May.
Fresh, moist deciduous forests on soils originating from limestone, often in hilly terrain. Often in community with Pulmonaria officinalis and Galium odoratum.
All parts of the plant are poisonous!
