Black Digger Wasp

Description:

A very large Black Wasp approximately 3.8 cm in length (1.5 inches) . It moved very quickly from flower to flower which made it difficult to get decent photos

Habitat:

I've seen this wasp several times around my garden. On this particular occaision I managed to get it gathering nectar from flowers of my Heath Myrtle (Backea Virgata) a native Australian plant from the Tea Tree family
